All activities are governed by SU Scotland’s written safety policy, which responds to the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Associated Regulations and in particular The Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations 1996 (AALA).
Both Alltnacriche and Lendrick Muir have been granted a licence by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) to provide adventurous activities for young people. Our centres are managed by members of the Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres, and registered with a number of local authorities as accredited providers. Confirmation of the licence contents can be checked online at AALA. Find out more about safety at our centres.
All appropriate staff at our centres have undergone basic first aid training.
Full liability insurances are held by SU Scotland for Lendrick Muir and Alltnacriche. We do not cover cancellation or loss of personal property, and would encourage participants to ensure they are appropriately insured.
John Muir Award
The John Muir Award is nationally recognised and encourages participants to Discover, Explore, Conserve and Share. It works very well within Curriculum for Excellence with the outcomes being closely aligned. We have been providers of the award for a number of years, and have observed the positive impact it has on participants.
